PSA Fender 70's F style Tuners do not fit Warmoth MODEL #: 0990822100

These tuners were what came stock on my original fender neck, and when I went to transfer them to my new warmoth neck they did not fit for two reasons.  First, while fender claims that these are for 25/64, they are larger and would require reaming, they are more like 13/32.  I'm OK with that.  Second, however, is that on my standard Warmoth neck the tuning holes are too close, as such the flanges on the sides overlap, as such the tuners won't line up correctly.

The fender website says:
Will not retrofit American Standard, American Deluxe or Standard series models, which is what Warmoth is based on.

I wonder if they would fit on a CBS style headstock.

They certainly fit on the fender CBS neck.  But as to the Warmoth Version, I have no idea.  Only the mother ship would know that.

Fender is notorious for moving the goalposts. Warmoth, USACG, MightyMite, et al are all far more reliable about following Fender specifications than Fender is. Anybody who works on a lotta guitars will have stories to tell you about how far off Fender parts can be as far as hole locations, dimensions, etc. They're like Microsoft. The definition of "standard" changes so frequently that the word has become meaningless.

Yes I have a couple of Fender CBS headstocks with these tuners, but don't have a Warmoth CBS to verify if they would fit.

I'm betting it doesn't fit because Warmoth mentions nothing about the distances between the CBS holes being different than the holes in the standard neck. :dontknow:

So Fender copied non-sealed, punched sheet-metal tuners from the 70's in the interest of authenticity? Or are yours originals? Weird as it seems to me, if they're genuine non-sealed, punched sheet-metal tuners they're probably of some worth to a restorer who also... wants... (snif) I can barely continue, this just... sad... 'n...

Dumber than DUMB mud. Dumb, sucking dumb mud. Not you, them. What are your plans for the original neck? Because money-wise, I'd think you'd be best off keeping those tuners with the neck (selling or not) and investing a ripsnorting 20 or 30 bucks on some much better Gotoh 38's or mid-grade or better Pings or... just about anything, really. Trying to grind down the flanges to get them to fit whiffs... nay, reeks of polishing turds, IYKIM. Don't get me started about "authentic! 1950's style!" bent sheetmetal Klusons on 5 and 6 and 7 and 8 and NINE-THOUSAND dollar "Custom Shop" gits.... Get Cagey started instead, I think it's his turn.  :icon_thumright:

There's no way I could afford an original anything.  They came off a MIM teledeluxe.  The neck is going to my nephew, along with the tuners for him to make his own build.

MIM says it all for surprise hardware. Search eBay, etc. and purchase a set of vintage style, Genuine Fender or Kluson split shaft top load tuners. If you cannot verify split shaft/top load don't buy.
