Pretty Boy Floyd

I named the guitar Pretty Boy Floyd.  For some reason, in the Freudian depths of my mind, I equate an inline six headstock as a male and a 3+3 as female.  So, this guitar is a male.  Have I lost it?  Probably.  :laughing7:  Anyway, I thought the cocobolo top and goncalo alves neck were gorgeous.  And, it has a Floyd.  So, for lack of a better name, Pretty Boy Floyd came to mind.  Especially considering that the sounds coming out of the DiMarzio Super 3 in the bridge slot will assault the senses like a Tommy Gun.  :headbang1:

The body came from the Screamin' Deals section and the neck was in the showcase.

Body:  Stratocaster, chambered mahogany, rear-route, cocobolo top, all the contour cuts, cream binding, clear gloss finish.
Neck:  Goncalo Alves, standard thin, 1 5/8" nut, 10"-16" compound radius, ebony fingerboard, 6100 nickel frets, abalone dots.
Tuners:  Gotoh
Bridge/Nut:  Original Floyd Rose with R2 nut.
Pickups:  DiMarzio Super 3 bridge, DiMarzio Breed neck, Metal pickup rings.
Electronics:  RS Electronics 500k super pot volume, 500k standard pot tone, Stew Mac Treble Bleed Circuit, Jensen paper/oil 0.022 uF cap, CRL 3-way switch with standard wiring, Planet Waves output jack.
Neck Plate:  DangerousR6 (pending arrival)

I'll post some additional pics when the neck plate arrives and gets installed.

I have to rewire it today.  I built and wired it yesterday, but for some reason there is absolutely no output from the jack.  I tried a different wiring scheme from Stew Mac's website, where the middle position of the 3 way switch gave one bridge coil and one neck coil together in parallel.  I thought that might make a cool sound, but apparently matter and antimatter came together and created a sonic black hole.  :laughing7:

Enjoy.

Your theory lends a whole new angle to the homoerotic subtext in the guitar hero narrative.  But anyhoo - that's certainly a lovely collection of lumber and fiddly bits.  Nice choices and nice work assembling them!

Thank you, Bagman67, spoken like a true disciple of Freud.  :icon_biggrin:  Appreciate the kind words.

I'm about to warm up the soldering iron and have another go at the wiring.  I found what should be a nice little gem of a wiring diagram, if it works.  I need to drill a hole for a single mini toggle switch, which I just happen to have on-hand.  The mini toggle acts as a "master coil tap."  So no matter what switch position (3-way) you are in, you get that/those pickups tapped.  Interesting, if it works.  Especially the middle position would give one coil of each humbucker.  I just need to sub in the 3-way CRL switch for the 3-way main toggle.

EDIT:  It works!  :headbang1:

Looks nice!

But, um, what does a reverse angle headstock mean?  :dontknow:

Thank you, Drewfx. Regarding your question, that's above my pay grade. Probably should send that one off to Dr. Phil!  Perhaps he and Oprah could do a one-hour special on the topic.  :laughing7:

Real nice guitar.  :guitarplayer2:
Do you find the bridge pickup ring/tremolo interferes with the knob being so close? Guess its a "getting used to" thing...

Thanks for the kind words, Howard.  The knob is in the standard Strat location.  I've never had it, or the pickup ring, get in the way of playing nor cause any problems with using the trem.
