Poor experience with online retailer - updated

I looked through the rules and didn't see anything that discourages posting customer service experiences. So I'd like to tell mine since it is the first time I've filed a Paypal Dispute.

Seller: Guitar Parts Site

On June 28th I ordered a fender pickguard for a Jagmaster. I only found two sites that listed the Jagmaster pickguards for the current model Jagmaster.

I received an order confirmation and the funds were withdrawn from my Paypal account the same day my order went in.

Since then I have heard nothing and did not get a response to the two emails I sent on Thursday and Friday of last week. I gave them two full business days to respond. So tonight I filed a dispute. When this order started to go south I did a search on this company and it revealed a site resellerratings.com that had 12 reviews for this company. TEN of them were ONE star. The only two good ratings were back in 2010. All of the bad reviews were for lack of communication, parts not received, stories of being strung along, etc

So that has been my experience with Guitar Parts Site. From now on I'll use Angela who gets generally positive reviews in various forums. The negative on Angela is that the owner is a bit of a character at times.

That's what I get for being sucked in by a low price.

Usually have been good for me. BUT !!

Recently they have sent stupid things to me, in my orders.
Like I ordered cream knobs, ended up with yellow strat pickup covers  :icon_scratch: ..... go figure

The worse RIP off I just had with them was, this pickguard (very bottom in link)
http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/pickguards_aftstratstd.htm
It was for my latest Metallic Tobacco Burst Strat
Was meant to be a Darker type of Tortoise Shell. Plus cost twice as much than your standard pickguard.

It's not what it seems.
It's not what they advertise at all, well it's sure Not what I got.
The one I got is 4 ply NOT 3 ply as stated in their advert.
When I got it, it was packed in an All Parts package, so I checked to see if they (All Parts) stock that item I had ordered 1st up.
NO, they don't.
But they had one just like the one I got from G/Parts and .....
In fact it looks just like a Warmoth's Tortoise Shell.

I have emailed them and never had a reply, In fact I have emailed them numerous time before, with NO REPLY EVER !!  :evil4:

I've ordered twice from them 4-5 years when I was assembling my Warmoths. I had no problem, I received the orders as usual, 12-14 days later with USPS international shipping.

People with good or okay experiences almost never post about it. Bad times will often get a review.
For funsies, check out any automotive repair or tire shop.  Bad review city.

I've ordered from Guitar Parts Resource's "sister" site, Bass Parts Resource, twice and haven't experienced any of the issues mentioned.  I've always received payment confirmation, and shipping/tracking information.  And shipping to Canada always takes less than a week ... great considering Customs can be a PITA sometimes.

There's nothing in the rules prohibiting posting customer service experiences, but I do watch the threads very closely.  Warmoth does a tremendous amount of business online and through email.  Two days to respond, when last week was also a holiday week, is not terribly long.  If it is a small shop, they may still be wading through the emails.  I don't know them and have never dealt with them.

If you have not tried calling them yet, definitely give that a shot.

Thanks Wyliee. I tried to keep it just to the facts and not disparage beyond the facts. I wouldn't have posted anything if I hadn't read reviews expressing the same experience, with the same problems.

To be accurate it was three business days from my 1st email. The two days was from my 2nd email asking for any kind of a response. Today makes it 4 days.

A delay in responding to an email would be less troubling to me if there had been ANY sign of life from this company. No change in status since the order confirmation either on the website or via email, and no part in 3 weeks this Thursday. The link on their website to request a call back is dead/broken link. The link to cancel the order only returns a message that the order is in final processing, and has been in that status for over a week now.

I'll update this thread with the final outcome.

Thanks everybody for the input on your experiences with this company.

:icon_scratch: Are you both talking about the same retailer?

No, two different companies. Guitar Parts Resource gets almost universally good reviews/feedback.

AndyG was reporting a good experience with Guitar Parts Resource. And Updown was just referncing a part at Guitar Parts Resource.

I have to be honest.

In a moment of clarity I realized it's only been two weeks since I ordered. And while much of my complaints stand, I don't think 2 weeks is time to call in the fire department. In spite of this bone headed move on my part I find their business practices to be way out of line with pretty accepted standards of online business. Most companies ship in the number of days I've waited for a reply to two emails.

I've closed my paypal dispute, since at two weeks I think it's premature.

I think enough has been said about Guitar Part Site and I won't be updating my experiences with them further. If someone wants to know the final outcome feel free to PM me, and I'll keep you updated via PM.

Interesting. I, too, have had a good experience with this vendor. Hopefully it all gets sorted for you.

Me too. I'm using the it gets here when it gets here/black hole mentality. (meaning there have been no responses to emails for voicemails).

Sometimes that's how it goes guess. I've been pretty lucky, except for UPS screw ups. I was due to be one of the exceptions sooner or later.
