Poly over Nitro ?

Is there a problem with spraying polyurethane over Nitro Lacquer ?

Yes, nitro never truly hardens/cures, poly does. If the nitro contracts or expands it will crack the poly. You can however spray nitro over poly. Just like with a painting you can paint oil over acrylic, but not acrylic over oil.

Damn, that sucks ! I just picked up a new never played Highway 1 Tele body dirt cheap but I hear the paint on the new Hiway 1's scratch, chip and flake off fo nothing.

if there is not issue with the body not I would not fret over it.  Besides...you can always recoat with more nitro.

If it really is a paint issue...spraying with poly will not help.  If the paint flakes off the poly will come with it....
