Plastic surgery

well correct me if i'm wrong but i'm guessing the only reason you're having a problem with the imperfections in the finish right now is because somebody else caused them. you want your story on your guitar, not theirs. a few years down the road your abstract art might be blemished, but at least it'll be you who did it.
Lol. Pretty much. I don't mind a scratch here and there, or a ding, but I have huge ass chips in it. Like he was tryin to play baseball with the shit. Lol.

Plastic surgery is a medical specialty concerned with the correction or restoration of form and function. While famous for aesthetic surgery, plastic surgery also includes two main fields: body modification and reconstructive surgery.

Suspect that it is some sort of 'spambot' that found the Thread title matched it's search criteria? :dontknow:

Haha yeah, dude. Yeah you're right about the abstract art thing, but it can't really get much worse than this. It looks like Mr. Guitar Thief ass Guy burned it in the corner. I wish I had a camera, so I can take some pictures of how it looks now. But yeah it looks kinda burned and the paint is chipped everywhere. There's no real point in painting it the same color it came in. 1. I don't know where to find a color that looks like it, and 2. I get the chance to paint it another color. If all else fails, can't I just paint it again. And since there is some "reconstructive surgery" needed, I feel Plastic Surgery was an appropriate title.

OK, I understand your situation now.

I'm thinking you'd need to strip all the hardware off the guitar, take the guitar to pieces and then strip the old finish off the body. Then refinish in whatever scheme you want.

Check out this forum's painting and finishing section, and also check out ReRanch website, I believe they have a forum too.

If you want to put on some artwork that has a better chance of staying on, you would have to put some clear lacquer over the top of it.

Or, if you don't want to do the refinishing yourself, maybe check out your local repairers and see who may want to do the job for you?

With the finish now chipping, I feel it might be pointless doing some artwork over the top of it, as sooner or later, both the artwork you put on and the underlying finish will continue to chip off. I'd suggest getting the foundation finish stabilised before doing any artwork.
