Planning another from scratch build.

My last two builds went well (Les Paul from scratch thread).  The problem was it was supposed to be three and I gave away the two guitars that turned out leaving me with no guitars  ???.  I was planning on building a Warmoth strat after my scratch build, but since mine didn't turn out the answer is to build myself another from scratch guitar.  So here is the plan.
Option A

or Option B

I don't know what style of F-hole I will use yet, but I want to build a semi-hollow body double cut guitar.  My Warmoth tele is essentially single cut so this will feel different I am hoping.  Humbucker pickups, a roller bridge, 25" scale.  The stop is going to be wood and use ferules.  I plan on carving it from the neck blank (I am doing another neck through).  A full on archtop or hollow body is a lot of work.  It will be a flat top guitar and probably a little deeper than normal.  Any votes for Option A or B would be helpful.  I am a little torn.

I think option B, but mirror the pattern and only have one in the upper portion of the body, leave off the one by the controls..

Doug ..... I can't believe you didn't say .....

Put a Floyd on it !!  :laughing7:

I like the (B) as it's different  :icon_biggrin:

Filling in for cagey, I will say put a wilkinson on it. Less of a headache. Lol

Seriously, I like option B

Option B, no contest! I also kind of like Doug's sketch, I'd certainly get individual controls for each pickup.

Yeah, I had thought about switching the "f-holes" on option B but I like the sort of tribal look you get from them being reversed.  I would like two matching f-holes though.  I am a sucker for symmetry.  I am also not 100% sure of the tailpiece design.  It works for the f-hole, but it is too soft for Option B.  I would need to redesign for it.
How important is it to have individual controls for each pickup?  On my guitars I use a tone and volume only.  I don't have much experience with that setup.  What are the pro's/con's?

Best so far!

Re individual controls, it's down to personal preference I'd say. For me it's a necessity to always have the treble on the bridge pickup on a tight leash. I also keep that volume set to zero usually, so I effectively have a quick mute switch. Very useful for noodling between takes at rehearsal if nothing else :icon_biggrin:

(no, I'm not a bridge pickup fan)

+1 on the design!

And +1 on the controls! I'm the exact same way.

Now with 100% more controls.

Yay! :hello2:

But it's your build, not mine - do what makes sense to you, not me :)

Edited for spelling, wine really messes with my motor skills...

I like this alot and am looking forward to the progress, for the tailpiece you should make that yourself,

Theres a lot of awesome archtop builders that make some really trick looking tail pieces, look at some books and get some inspiriation, I like the design you have now

This is gonna be awesome! Your last one was great, so I have no doubts about this coming out really well!

+1 on the tailpieces, it is like a headstock logo, everyone has their own!

I really wanna build an archtop sometime.,,

Yeah I am planning on doing the tailpiece myself.  I am still working on the exact design, but I think something like I have in the picture.
It isn't a true archtop though.  I am cheating it.  An archtop is beyond my current skill.  It is really a solid carved top with tone chambers.  It will look like an archtop though.

That is pretty cool.  Is that from your CAD program?  That is actually going to be the final design.  It is the one the wife liked best, so you win  :icon_tongue:

Yip, I did that in my cad program, I used the exact picture you posted and scaled it to size in the cad program. :headbang1:
