Pickups: An Open Question

I think it has been pointed out, but using the ohms rating of a pickup is a small degree of it's over all sound, more of it's power output. There are so many factors in a pickups architecture to consider.
there is a great book
http://www.amazon.com/Pickups-Windings-Magnets-Guitar-Electric/dp/1574242091
it explains so much about pickups you will never look at them the same again

Right, but it does suggest that there's something pretty different than a regular PAF because the output is similar but the DC resistance is about half. Maybe a different wire gauge, different magnets? The lower resistance just shows that they aren't repackaged PAFs.  :icon_thumright:

the ohms reading is going give you the resistance in the wire, that is it,without other info it means not much, now couple that with wire gauge and you can see how much wire was used, with bobbin size after that and you know how many turns, etc,  so as you see just the ohms reading means nothing unless you have further info
