Pickup Wiring Holes

Hi All,

I've just noticed that the body which I've just finish staining is missing the routes for the pickup wires. It's a rear route body, so it's not something I can easily do myself. Is this something Warmoth bodies are meant to come with? Regardless, does anyone know the best way to drill holes for the wiring for the body attached?

Thanks,
Matt

That's odd.... how about some more pictures. One of the neck pocket, some of the pickup cavities at different angles.

Double check, some of those holes are hard to see because they are in a corner.

Hold your body level and poor water into the pickup cavities and see where it runs out.............................................................................JUST KIDDING, don't do that,    you gotta poor it in the controll cavity

Yes, your body is supposed to come with wiring channel holes to the control cavity from the pickups and one to the tremolo cavity from the control cavity. If they are not there please contact Sales Manager Rob at Warmoth please. Thank you.

Well, Warmoth is supposed to do it. They should do it free.... if you want to do it yourself, what you need is called an "aircraft" drill bit. They're 6" and 12" long, and all over E-bay, or a decent hardware store can order them. You have to be careful and think about what you're doing - don't miss, and don't snap a long thin piece of tool steel. The rhythm pickup wire hole is often drilled all the way through (flat) from the neck cavity. Then going up from the control cavity, you have plenty of room to angle into the bridge pickup pocket.

Unless well skilled in such areas, I'd think it best to send it back to Warmoth and let them do it.... :dontknow:

He's stained the body himself, Dangerous, can he still return it?

That's kind of what I was getting at.  With necks and bodies, it seems a full inspection of everything is required before any modification done, i.e. must be in resaleable condition.  Like so many times, someone might drill holes for tuners and string tees before they realize it's the wrong radius for example.

This is true, but it wouldn't really be a return. He would just be sending it back to have the holes drilled. I would imagine that would be the exception.... :dontknow:

Uh, OK that sounds more do-able. Customer to pay the sending back postage and Warmoth to pick up the cost of doing the holes and returning the completed body to them?

IMO, Warmoth should reimburse the customer for shipping back to Warmoth as well (after verifying the problem issue) as the cost would not have been incurred had big W completed all standard work prior to shipout. W's screwup, W's dime, again, IMO.

Having sent something back under warranty, the customer does pay the shipping back to W, but they are great about crediting the amount back to you in some form.

Yes, I definitely wasn't sugesting W pay the shipping ahead of time without even verifying the issue, but I do think if the pickup wiring holes are not there, it's not really a warranty issue is it? They just forgot to produce one of the features they advertise the body as having. Oversights happen, and it's nice to see that they do some sort of credit for the shipping. All I know is, if I just spent a lot of money to purchase something from W, and had to wait all that time for it to come in, and then when I finally started my project, to find that Warmoth forgot to do something (if, obviously, in fact they did forget)...I'd be fairly annoyed that I had to use any further of my $ to send a part back to W to get a standard feature completed. But I would definitely put said annoyance in check if they credited it back in some way.

I want to make it clear that I'm not in any way slagging W here - I'm going to build a Gecko or a Deluxe 5 from them next  :blob7:. Just offering my viewpoint on the thread topic.
