they have to be tiny like 800 kb or less or post link to hosting site.

I just post them to imgur in a private album and copy the link to post here

Edit the photo first. My phone by default captures images in 3024 x 4032 pixels which is way overkill. I edit it down to 600 x 800 which is more than enough to view in browser (and I have a 34" ultrawide monitor).

I've had this discussion with families who've tried to send in images of paper documents required for registration. We don't need such high-res pics to be able to count the fibers in the paper it's printed on!

Also, as noted by Stratamania, Imgur has decided to block access to its services to the UK instead of complying with their child-safety regs. It's only a matter of time before they consider doing the same elsewhere, so even online hosting services aren't a 100% guarantee of success. #ymmv

My default Android phone image tool (bizarrely!) does not have image resize... so I use a free App called "SnapSeed", which has a 'custom export' function that I set up for manageable forum posting image size (max 1360 pixels, JPG 80% quality). I am hoping that someday the native app will provide this function, saving me a couple clicks...

From iPhone there’s a little icon in the bottom right of the photo selection that lets you resize and choose format.
