Heart attack?  I think I just passed out!

... but then how can I be typing this?  hmmmmm.... the mysteries of alternate realities....

BTW it looks freaking amazing!

Looks great! Burst is a bit wide for my tastes, but forget that :P
I'm OK with the width, would like it to be more transparent instead of blocking out so much of the paisley pattern though. But that's just me.

Anyway it is still going to be awesome. Congrats.

It does look amazing with that green, but I kinda liked it better in this pic with the black... :headbang:

I have to agree. The green looks great, but to me the black looks amazing.

And you know..."great is ok, but amazing would be great."  :icon_biggrin:

I wasn't going to say anything  but yeah, i was kind of disappointed when i saw the green because i was thinking how awesome that black was going to look.

I like the green color, but it covers up a lot of the paisley, which would annoy me if it were mine.  But if Trevor digs it, I support it, cause it's his axe!  :icon_biggrin:

Now that it's been shot with the green, it looks like you were able to get some of the paper wrinkles out.  or is it just the angle that the pics were taken from?  You can clearly see the wrinkles in the pick of the black burst, but not in the green burst

Either way.  I like both colours.

Hi, Tonar or Mayfly (whoever handled this detail):

Please pardon my necro-post, but I'm working on a similar idea with a piece of art paper on a tele body - how are you feathering the edge of the paper to the body so it doesn't look sharp?

Thanks.

Ok here we go.  First thing was to deal with the color of the green and I found a killer metallic from Crescent Bronze Powder Company.  Here it is next to the original color mayfly had in mind.  After Trevor agreed to the change I have ordered up the powder and now I have to get ready for it.  First step is to get the edge ready for the powder by shooting black lacquer and building a smooth transition between the line of the paper and the wood.  This is the color and the process so far.

New color on the right.

Next tape it off using 1/4 tape for the outline.

Black and ready for more clear coats.

Found the answer in the Mayfly-started thread:

(zillions of coats of clear lacquer to build the finish)

As Emily Littella put it, "Never mind!"
