Overwhelmed

I like the sound samples provided on the Seymour Duncan and bare Knuckle websites. For each brands it's the same 2 orn3 tunes played for each pickup so your can ear the differences between each pickup.

Every company sale their own versions of classic pickups(standard paf/classic Les paul pickup, overwound paf, Standard strat sound of different era, Texas strat sound,.... ), so you must be able to find what type of sound you are searching for.

Like other said, stick to the classics at first, when you'll know what you want, you'll take look at the non classic pickups(p-rail is one of them)

If you want some flexible pickups to check out look at Seymour Duncan P-Rails. Works as a humbucker, single coil or P90 type.

I haven't used one of those yet, but a buddy of mine installed one in a Melody Maker and it was quite surprising how many different tones he could get out of what's essentially a single-pickup guitar with a vol/tone/switch. You not only get the three obvious choices out of the pickup itself, the volume control will take it in and out of breakup, and the tone control will mellow it out or make it quite edgy. Super-simple and inexpensive setup that provides a lot of versatility.

I'll agree with this. I put a set in my Jazzmaster and they're outstanding. Very flexible with the wiring. I have mine with two slide switches to give humbuckers in parallel, single coils, p90s or humbuckers in series. I'll build another guitar with those again.

My Jazzy has a set of P-Rails too. Very versatile pups.

P rails are really nice with the triple shot rings. No push pull pots to deal with. I have prails on a start and a Tele I like them.
