Oh man, this guy must be Warmoth and ebay's best customer. :-)

I like how he doesn't mention in this auction that the ring mounts are wayyyyyyyy out of line, just says see the pics.

My eyes hurt when I see Cherry Burst. I could live with a misaligned pup route, but not that finish.

To be fair, in the case of the blue body, he hired the wrong guy to work on it for him. In the case of the cherry burst, I'm not sure that pickup route is off-center, or if is, whether he did it. Although, if he's hiring the wrong people to work on his bodies for him, you could say he's complicit in their destruction. And he could be lying - blaming someone else for his screw-ups. Finally, these may be early efforts. We all make mistakes, some more egregious than others.

I just shake my head and say "that's too bad." Spilt milk and all.

The cherryburst pickup rout is probably a Warmoth job - it looks pretty clean and in-line.  The screwholes to mount the bezel for the pickup are what's off, in my view.

I see what you mean now. I used the "zoom" feature of the photo, and you can not only tell they're off, there's an additional hole drilled for one of them.

+1!!!

Oh, I don't know. I think this guitar is pretty hot.

There's a right way and a wrong way to do cherry burst.  The ones with a really hot red and a very strident yellow are a bit too garish for my tastes; those with a more amber cast and a deeper red I find more attractive.  I think RB's lefty Hag gets closer to my ideal than the Warmoth body that poor loser screwed up.

I agree completely, but I'd apply this to any burst. A burst is only as good as the subtlety of its transition.

Right. There are many out there that just look like a stripe has been painted around the perimeter, as opposed to a nice transition from one shade to another.

I just think the red-to-yellow thing is very unattractive - the subtlety of transition doesn't really matter to me. But then again I'm not much of a burst guy to begin with...

I'm with you on red and yellow; nothing that reminds me of McDonald's is any good. But that Hag, to me, is more of a red to orange. It never makes it to yellow. And, with that, I'm fine.

Behold!  This is a specimen of my first electric guitar, circa 1986.  I would never choose it now, but at 19, I thought it was the whip.  I played one in a GC last year and it held up suprisingly well.

It's for that reason that I'll never understand the appeal of vintage two-tone sunburst finishes on Fenders.
They look like someone had grabbed a can of spray paint and vandalized an amber/brown guitar. :dontknow:
You need to make a good transition from edge to center.

Well, the blue burst quilted top Strat went for $256, if anybody's interested.
