Ok, so I've been stewing a Tele build around in my brain. I'm not 100% sure when I'm going to do it but I've been thinking seriously about it. I was considering doing it with my winter bonus but a few things have happened this past week that have pretty much dedicated that money somewhere else. Maybe my summer bonus.

Anyway, I'm thinking a little out of the box. Not real far out, because I'm sure it's been done before.....probably lots of times, but I'm thinking instead of the blonde with a black or white scratch plate, I might go with Mary Kay white with a tortoise plate. Hmmmm, would that look odd on a Tele or am I so far out of touch with them that I don't know that it's pretty standard? I saw a Strat in the Showcase RSS feed this morning in that combination and thought a Tele would look pretty sharp like that.

What do you guys think?

Mary Kaye, slightly "bursted" to opaque Mary Kaye at the edges, with white pickguard.  That is a classic Tele from the 70's.

Mary Kay over zebrawood w/ a black 'guard produces an interesting result. SMJenkins did a Strat that way a little bit ago...

Apparently, it's not done very often as even Wylie was skeptical about what the result might be. But, check out the thread at the link above - there are a number of pictures and it's quite an attractive build.

for way out of the box, go for a white finish with a rusty gold pickguard... basically like david gilmours #1, but it's a tele, not a strat..

or a lighter shade of antiqua burst with matching pg! (or better, regular antiqua)
