I've read the excellent intro to finishing, but still need some guidance. I have a Warmoth left handed strat body that has a walnut face on a chambered mahogany body. I was originally going to stain it until someone suggested I wet it and see if I liked the look, and honestly the walnut grain is absolutely beautiful and pretty close to what I want.

I originally wanted a satin finish, until I read the disadvantages of satin finishes. So gloss is fine.

I suppose my question is more about filling the grain. The walnut is amazing, the mahogany, just okay. I know mahogany needs a filler, so I don't mind if it comes out darker. But the walnut I really want to accentuate the grain.

I am open to suggestions. I've attached pictures. The second one is of the body wet.

That's a beautiful body. I can see why you are looking to keep it that color. I've finished a couple without using any filler for the grain. I like the grain texture but that's a call on your part. This is mahogany with a finish where I let the grain show. You can see it on the forearm contour.

Whichever way you decide to go, it should look good. Post pics as you move along with it. We're photo junkies around here. :icon_biggrin:

Definitely. I'll probably have other questions. This is my first Warmoth build. I have to say the fit of the neck with the body blows away my '74 Strat, three bolt.
