Ok, I'm never browsing the Warmoth Showcase again...

Seriously... it was a mellow work day!
I had 30 mins to spare...
Said wth, let's see what's in the Warmoth webshop...

And 2 minutes later I had a GAS attack and pulled the trigger... twice!
Just could *not* resist those 2 beauties:

Seriously, I did not need 2 new guitar projects...
Damn you Warmoth for building such beauties!!!!  :glasses10:

They are fine but dang.. two?? And that's not including necks.

Dude, welcome to my world! I spend so much time on their website browsing the showcase and configuring custom bodies and necks. It's so addicting and so much fun!

Of course it's bad for the wallet, because in the past month I've bought THREE bodies and THREE necks. Two were from the showcase, and one was custom.

It's crazy how much time one can spend on their site!

Nice picks! I really like the purple to clear and blue to clear bursts... One day I will own one!

Excellent choices!

I have to discipline myself to stay out of the showcase.

Thanks guys!
I always wanted a Carribean- and clear-to-purple-burst.
I usually like my tops to be odd looking or non-perfect - so those tops were exactly my kind of top.

I still can't believe I bought 2 at once... I probably shouldn't be browsing the webshop too much :D

Also I like that one is chambered and light - and the other one is solid and heavy (I don't mind heavy guitars). Will be interesting to see how they differ tonally...

On a sidenote, I'm thinking of going with a gold trem and gold hardware on the purple one.
Would you go with gold hardware on the Caribbean Burst too, or standard chrome? Cannot decide...

Plus what fingerboard? Maple? Rosewood? Something else?

I would put the same neck on both of those: Black Ebony over Roasted Maple. Looks classy, feels great, and plays like a dream. You don't really want a highly-figured neck on bodies like that. It gets too busy. The body is the main attraction in this instance, so don't diminish it with distractions. Black matches everything perfectly and is unobtrusive. And don't forget stainless steel frets. Putting nickel-silver frets on a new neck is like putting fiberglas bias-ply tires with inner tubes on a new car.

Speaking of not being too busy, if you have any photoshop skills, it might be worth it to see what solid cream pickguards would look like on there rather than the pearl textured parts.

As for gold vs. chrome, either would look good with those colors, but chrome usually seems more natural with colors on the UV end of the spectrum like green, blue and purple are. Gold seems to meld better with colors on the IR end, like yellow, orange and red. Of course, it's not a hard and fast rule or anything like that.

Plus, chrome wears better. Even on high-end hardware, the gold plating is vanishingly thin and even if you don't have alien acid-based blood/sweat/tears, you can just wear the stuff off with nothing more abrasive than your skin. If these guitars are going to be in professional rotation out on gigs getting a lotta play, chrome would probably be the better choice. If they're gonna be homebodies that don't see a lotta hours, or may end up being wallflowers most of the time, then gold always looks great and will stay that way.

I couldn't wait to see how a cream pickguard would look. Hope Schneidas doesn't mind..... :toothy11:

It's not bad but it's not anything I'd choose. The cream seems just a little too off for a match but not far enough for a contrast.

I grabbed that cream color off a screen shot of Warmoth's site, so I'm sure it's pretty close to what they ship. Maybe some other vendor's color might match better.

Well, I know there are vintage white, cream, and parchment shades for pickup covers. Variations on a theme.
