Just received my GA/GA neck (It's beautiful btw), my other basses have all had rosewood fingerboards and I periodically oil them with lemon oil.

would it be ok to coat the entire neck front and back in a coat of this to smooth out the raw timber feel a little bit?

Lemon oil is good in my book.  i haven't had a GA neck, but I can't think how it's different than other unfinished woods.

I just put some lemon oil on a piece of Goncalo scrap, and the wood really didn't take the oil. It just wiped back off and dried.
You can try it if you want, but you might be wasting time.

I've done that on two GA-necks with Pau Ferro finger boards. After first going over the back of the necks with 0000 steel wool. The wood seem to get a tad darker after the lemon oil.

The Warmoth necks come dipped in a sealer, so you might be feeling that.  You can go over a neck with a used piece of 320 sandpaper and it will, "Settle in," feel wise.  Well, it has for me.  =CB= used a tung oil regimen on the goncalo neck that he used on Vic's guitar, if I remember correctly.  You might want to look up that thread from a couple of years ago to see what he did if you are interested in oiling the neck.
