Every once in a long while, I get the urge to try something new, to create something that hasn't been made before. The magical stars managed to get together, and all of a sudden, I want a jazzmaster-ish guitar with retro-futuristic styling, a raw neck, a deeper cutaway, contoured heel, and some P90's, in those sexy hum sized cases with the inserts. I also have a few ideas, one involves a more ergonomic and quite unconventional neck profile, that would be great to try on a guitar like this.

Thoughts? I'm drooling. Still haven't got a bridge, I tried a bigsby B5 with a roller, but it looked crammed. Of course, I could extend the butt back a little further...

I want badly to go with that sexy trem from musikelle, but I hope to someday sell these, so a mass produced part seems safer.

Also, any sources out there for open gear 6 on a plate/side tuners? This thing is telling me it wants air.

Still haven't decided, IF THIS HAPPENS, whether I should dive in and make the neck myself(No one sells a raw rosewood or bubinga angled paddle neck with unfretted fretboard overhang, do they?), or compromise on the overhang and go with Warmoth. Of course, the body would have to be scratchbuilt, I'm thinking thinner than a Fender jazz.

Why don't you want sealed tuners? :icon_scratch:

Aesthetic is my life. I'm actually considering a slotted peghead, and it would look especially tasty that way. I just don't want ugly tuners, and I don't want klusons. Too cliche. :laughing7:

Since your headstock design closely resembles a Ibanez Roadstar II, you could always just start with one of those necks and go from there... :dontknow:

I'm thinking I should just get a paddle and do it all from scratch, especially considering the headstock ledge, and the fact that I may go slotted...

Looks the same to me, the ledge wouldn't be a problem or even a slot..

Hmm.... Is that you, Mo Dean? Designed under the influence of Fano and Electro Swing.

I felt that I was holding myself back by using the jazz/jag shape, so I scratched it... And this is the new shape. I like it much better and I believe I have myself a winner.. Thoughts? It needs some tweaking, the pickguard needs to be further from the perimeter of the lower horn, and I'm not sure what to do about the pickups.

I'm thinking about getting someone to make me Hum sized pickups with the angled poles and using a P90 type mounting system. I could do humbucker mounting and use rings, or I could go full on P90...

Use a side jack.
May-be try it in SSH
Get rid of those knobs below the neck pup.
One day when you are fully grown up (I mean in height etc) and become a man, your gunna hurt yourself on them.

I've had 3 side jack instruments, I really can't stand them. You can't prop them anywhere plugged in, you have to hang them or set them on stands... And the knobs are for an onboard 3 knob reverb, although they could use better placement for sure.
