Did a search but didn't find it. But maybe a repost?

Someone on this board?

Pretty neat if you ask me.

Nice... I've been wanting to build something like that for a while; looks like he beat me to it.

that was one of the most exciting videos I have seen in a while, to think I could build a strat that I could get to sound like one of my classical's is insane.

I started to play guitar by studying cklassical, I love that, now I could do it during gigs, I have to know what pickup, and what programing he is running

From the vid info...

Fender Japan body from the 90's

Warmoth (scalloped) neck w/ XJ frets and Sperzel locking tuners (locking tuners is a must!), and a graphite nut. I'm not sure graphite is the right way to go with nylon though, so I'll probably try something else.

Fender tremolo bridge with piezo pick-ups on the bridge saddles. The piezos are GraphTech's Ghost system, which also has MIDI out available.

There is another one at work here too...

I wouldn't have figure nylon strings would be able to exert enough tension on a neck intended for steel strings to keep it straight... :icon_scratch:

I've got all my parts for my nylon strat build in the W cart already,
but need to go to the bank and make a deposit before I pull the trigger.

Why ?
A few obvious reasons made the idea desirable to me.
1) The comfort of a strat body and neck.
2) The possibility of using a direct line as opposed to a microphone, and direct with a graphtec system as opposed to the generic piezo systems in most all others ...
to get a believable recording that sounds like a classical guitar.

Graph Tech piezo in the bridge.  You'd have to use a piezo - magnetic pickups wouldn't work with a nylon string guitar.  It looks like he also has a MIDI module in it, but that's not completely necessary.

Chet Atkins thought a solidbody nylon string was a good idea.

Chet was badass though.  He thought picks were bad ideas too, most of the time.
Chet was a God, all the way around a axe. There are few guys from the C&W genre that anyone from any form of playing stop and listen to, he was one.

I have loved this idea since aizenx built his, but I dont think ill ever build one. I dont have any experience with nylon strings and probally couldnt make it sound that good, maybe someday though.

It's been a long time since I played anything with nylon strings on it, but I remember them being kinda tricky to play because they want to roll around under your fingers.

technique, practice technique

am I the only one who thinks this is fairly bad tone for a nylon-string, piezo-equipped guitar? I've heard much better, and more authentic sounding designs before. that build that Max linked was more impressive in my opinion. and actually interesting to look at

Go thru the pages on this Thread that Max linked, and find the clip of the guitar that aizenx built. The sound quality is much better!

Anyone knows which string or how is he putting the strings? Because as far as I remember (seems like 8 years since I've changed a nylon string) it doesn't have the "ball" in the end of the string to hold on a electric bridge...

Everytime I see something like this I get really interested!
