Hey where do you think you're going? It doesn't end here y'know. :blob7:
We need more details? When are you ordering? What are you ordering? What pickups are you using? what amp are you playing through?
Dont just disappear..... :icon_thumright:
ok, ok! The details are as follows;
I intent, after the input of this thread, to make an early 60's style replica strat with mods..................... i.e. what could a 60's start have been like if we knew then what we know now about playabillity etc.? So, the mods will be height adjustable string posts on the lockable Gotoh kluson tunners (which I already have, very hard to find) to show off the headstock fully. The contoured heel so it is comfortable in higher access. The compound neck radius of a Warmoth Pro with SS frets. A tremol-no in replacement of a conventional spring claw so I can hardtail it (I only occasionally use the arm, but I dont want to lose it). Under the hood, the wiring will be cloth, but I will be using a Jensen paper in oil cap with a blender tone pot to go with the rest of the standard electronics to get the best out of the Vintage Hot Fralins. The Fralins have been ordered with a 5% underwind in the neck which is also covered by a baseplate to enhance the bottom end, middle of 6k and a bridge of 6.8k. The only real asthetic mod (apart from the loss of string trees) will be an F hole in the chambered Alder body just to give it more character and remind myself that I made it.
Looks wise, all the hardware will be '62 style (fender fender stamped saddles, not fender pat pen) right down to nickel roundhead screws. In will be a 4 ply tortoise pickguard with LIGHTLY aged white parts all which will be set in the tobacco burst alder F hole body. The neck should be a pao ferro finger board on maple (possibly birdseye) with a dark satin vintage tint. As I am going for a replica of a certain guitar I will be putting the early 60's fender decal on the headstock.
That is the plan guys! I will be ordering all the parts over the next three months..............+ finishing times + construction should put it at September-ish end date.
Amp is too embarrasing to mention currently, but I would like to get a Princeton Recording amp early next year or maybe a hot rod deville. Then I am set! I intend to buy nothing but strings and picks after that until I am waaaaay more advanced a player.
You guys got any tips on the build, aesthetically or otherwise?
