My first thought was that's gotta be fake, if true there's gotta be some law against it, and if the authorities have done nothing it must be fake.  Unfortunately, snopes can't tell if it's true or not ... so it persists.

I would, gladly. My 73 tele with single coils and 1 meg pots is a metal monster.
