I don't think it has to do with being custom, it's just how they do business. I always get charged immediately, custom or not. And really, what wood work isn't custom to at least some degree, even if it's just changing tuner reams or bridge mounting holes on a Showcase item? Most necks need frets... Then, hardware is just stock. Unless your hardware is back-ordered, I'm not sure when they would defer billing.

Maybe they changed how they do it, but if memory serves me right, they used to charge on the back side for items that were considered normal, high moving pieces because they could always move them to stock if something happened.  :icon_scratch:

I call my orders in just to talk to a person and sometimes having them read it back, you notice something you missed.  It's my understanding that online orders are debited at the point of order and phone orders are at the time of shipping.  But anywho, this was the 8th order and 1st w/out a quantum view email.  Not complaining, just observing, and in the end it made for a nice surprise.

Well, this thing is no longer out of the box so here is link to the original thread.  I put the finishing touches on the action and nut height and will continue to monitor that in the coming weeks as the neck settles in.  Feel free to comment in that thread.  Oh, and as of right now, it is finished but no finished pics.  I'll post those there soon.
