My Jazzymaster body just arrived, rear route, H-H Pups. Looks great, but alas there is no routing to the Hipshot hardball bridge. Any ideas as to whether this was an oversight, or with a hardball bridge is there another way to ground the guitar?
It'a a hardtail (not trem), but no, the only routing is from the two PUPS back to the control box. There are, however, drillings for the string holes and the three screws that attach the Hipshot bridge.
There won't be any routing to the bridge, but there should be a hole drilled between the control cavity and the bridge mounting area. It won't be very big because you only need clearance for single conductor, so it'll be easy to miss. If there isn't one, then USACG screwed up.
I'm not aware of any other way to ground your bridge/strings.
To drill that hole yourself, you'll need an "aircraft length" drill bit so you can lay the drill motor down flat enough to drill nearly parallel to the body without hitting it with the chuck. You can get them here.
I'd be emailing the manufacturer of that body and asking them where's the grounding wire for the bridge? They did the routing for the bridge when they made the body, or did you order the body without the bridge routing?
