Is anyone here besides me a pocketknife aficionado? Let me share my unboxing experience of this great little guy I got in the mail today:

Nice!
I have a collection of about 50 knives, myself. Ranging from budget folders, to custom shop or limited run collectors knives. I love me a nice piece of steel!

feels great in the hand. It was developed for the Italian military and police as an everyday carry (basic) folder - hence the name BF-1, for Basic Folder 1.

I wouldn't call me an "afficiando", but I do enjoy a good pocket knife. That one you've got there is pretty nice. I like that a lot.

My collection is fairly small, and packed up at the moment for an impending move, but my favorite is Sheffield's answer to the folding/locking utility knife...

It's a stainless unit with machine work better than most, polished and dressed with Rosewood. It's got some heft to it, so there's a belt clip on the opposite side. Trying to keep it in a pocket would be uncomfortable, and probably put a hole in your pocket fairly quickly.

That is one deluxe box cutter! Very cool, and would be extremely useful. I think I want one, and I need another knife like a hole...

I've probably got a half dozen of that style knife stashed around for convenience, but other than the Sheffield they're all pretty utilitarian. It's a real handy design, and has the advantage of never needing sharpening - just put another blade in it.

Nice knife there Mr P. I've got a few dozen myself. Usually stick to Buck, Case, and Schrade, (made up the road from me before the factory closed), with a good assortment of Victorinox thrown in for good measure.

Here's a pic of one I was thinking of selling a while back, but now I'll probably just keep it. Love the 110 & 112 Bucks......

Most of mine are packed away right now, but i do have pictures (not very great quality..) of my favourite folder. My Spyderco Rubicon.  :headbang:
Ball bearing pivot, titanium liners, solid carbon fiber scales with an orange G10 spacer, CPM S30V blade. I love this thing to death.

Wow, that's a NICE Spyderco, Timmsie. I wasn't aware of that model - I'll have to take a look at it's specs on their site. Thanks for sharing those pics.

Yeah, it reminds me a lot of some Lightfoot designs, and I'm a big fan of carbon fiber scales

Nice knife Mr. Pinter.  Interesting pocket clip design.  Does it ride lower in the pocket due to the way it wraps around the knife like that?

I got one of these Camillus jobs at the PX when I was in the army, and had it for about 25 years until one day I forgot to take it out of my bag before I went to the airport and had to abandon it with the TSA idiots.  Now I carry my late father-in-law's Buck.

I think what we all need is one of these Binford 6000 Guitar Multi-Tool™ widgets...

I know that there are all sorts of things that folks collect. But just curious do you guys have a use for these knives also ?

I've got a small Swiss Army knife I bought in Switzerland years ago but just keep it in a draw and it comes in handy now and again.

I haven't been here for a day or two, here are answers to a couple of questions:

Nightclub Dwight: yes the pocket clip allows the knife to sit really low in the pocket - out of sight except for the clip. The clip is VERY stiff though, almost too stiff to use. I might try bending it a little with a needle nose - I did that lightly, being afraid to break it, but it didn't accomplish too much.

Stratamania: yes I have uses for my knives that I carry. Everything from opening letters to box cutting (though I use a utility knife whenever I can for this because it will dull any blade quicker than you'd like). And a pocketknife is a very poor defense weapon, but it is there as a last resort in that kind of emergency.
