Nitro over pao ferro?

I'm ina new lap Steel build and I'm using a pao ferro fingerboard with sycamore "fret" inlays and binding. I want to give it a protective coat because the maple. Anyone has experience sprying nitro over pao ferro?. The other option will be the cyanocrilate treatement.
