New Gibson (guitar) Day, sorry no Warmoth content this time around. So for years I've been wanting to replace my LP that got stolen, not specifically a look a like, but another one. So a few years back my brother and I were a GC, and I played around on a LP Studio faded, and just loved it. But most I saw were just ordinary looking maple tops. Eventually i ran across this mahogany on mahogany... :headbang1:

Boy, that mahogany took the red dye beautifully. A hearty congratulations to you.  :icon_thumright:

Congrats, great guitar! I've never seen a pickguard like that on an LP. Looks very cool :headbang:

Thanks, I'd imagine it's not the stock one, but it kinda is a bit kitchy... :icon_biggrin:

I might see if I can find the rear covers to match... :dontknow:

Very beautiful!  Looks a lot like the guitar that my friends bought for their son when he started taking lessons at a local rock-oriented music school a few years ago (and has since become quite the virtuoso).  Mine is the more traditional lacquered finish, but dang, that raw-wood look is certainly gorgeous!

Found an old pic of my Les Paul that was stolen. Didn't realize it until now, it was a '76 and the one I just bought is a '06. 30 years apart...

Nice! Always been a Fender/Strat player but that Les Paul looks inviting!

Very nice.  I love the open grain.  Looks like a one piece body, a least the back

best I can tell it looks like a one piece back...top looks to be two pieces. and it's chambered, so it's really light for an LP..

Nice LP!  I have this love/hate thing with LP's..  Every so often I get the itch to get one, and I will only to sell it off a short time later.  Usually due to weight.. but not the LP's, mine.  LOL  I'm a bit too "round" for them to hang comfortably on me.  A big ol' slab guitar without a tummy cut of some kind put them WAY out there in front of me.  :laughing7:

I'm not particularly a Gibson fan. At least not as of recent years, only other gibby I have is a Korina reissue Explorer that my wife bought me back in the 90's. I've always leaned more to strat style player. Mostly Jacksons and such, so i can identify with the need for a tummy cut, whether being a large person or not...

I'm the same way. Owned several over the years, and keep flipping them due to poor ergonomics (for me).

That "Faded" line with no grain fill and the red finish was a heck of a deal in mid-2000's from Gibson.  I had an LP Special double-cut from that line and it was great. I got it on clearance as they were discontinuing the line - I think I paid about 500 including the Gibson gigbag. If it weren't for my preference for the longer Fender scale length, I'd have kept it, because it sounded and played pretty dang good.  Nice grab, Doug, and may it bring you many happy hours of carefree rockin' out.

Thanks Ian, it has a set of Burstbucker Pro's in it and with the chambered all mahogany body and the 50's contour neck, they really do play and sound sweet. :headbang:
