New Warmoth Video: Aaron Explains the 720 Mod

Hang on Buckaroos....So Mr. Fabulous spokes model, explain. At the end you say a tune o matic can't have a 720 drop. So what is this then...???

AFAIK, the *Recessed* tuna-matic uses a flat neck pocket, so would be able to use the 720 mod without additional complication.  The problem will come up with the silly geometry of Tune-nomadic bridges using the neck pocket angle and full-height stop-tale piece.

I guess you know that already, you just wanted to point out it wasn't stated correctly in the video.

If that had a Stop Tail pice, then a 720 would not be an option due to the angled neck pocket.
It doesn't matter how the strings are anchored, with the stop tail or though the body or even a trapeze tailpiece, it's still a Tune o matic.

[/quote]Yes I do, you are correct, I was poking fun at Aaron...

So why is there a big gap between the fretboard overhang and the pickguard on my latest Strat build? My other Warmoth Strat doesn't have it and neither does my Fender Strat.

I just don't get it. The neck pocket is 5/8" deep like it's supposed to be. There is a 3/32" gap between the fretboard overhang and the pickguard. According to the Warmoth site, there should be a 1/8" (2/32") gap without a pickguard. My yellow Warmoth strat has a 1/32" gap (perfect) between fretboard overhang and pickguard. On my 1990 Fender Strat, there is zero gap; overhang sits flush against the pickguard. Why the drastic variance??
