Looking forward to this upcoming Warmoth build. Pics to follow upon completion. I should have the body and neck in 4-6 weeks but here's the scoop on it:

* 100% Koa Stratocaster body (5.0 lbs) routed for neck and bridge humbuckers and a non recessed Floyd Rose Bridge, control cavity rear routed.

* Warmoth Pro Neck with Strat Headstock, Pau Ferro Neck & Fingerboard with 6105 Stainless Steel Frets, Mother Of Pearl Fret and Side Markers, '59 Roundback Neck Carve with 1 11/16 Nut Width and R4 Locking Nut

* All Gold Hardware:

* FU Tone Bridge with Titanium Saddles, 42mm Bell Brass Big "L" Block, Bell Brass Spring Claw, Bell Brass Trem Stopper, Heavy Duty Noiseless Springs, Turbo Trem Arm and all Stainless Steel Screws & Hardware, Gold Locking Nut with Stainless Steel Locking Screws

* Grover Rotomatic Locking Tuners with Thumbwheel (Just for faster string changes)

* FU Tone PMS Bell Brass Pickup Mounting System (Both Pickups)

* Suhr Aldrich Humbuckers (Bridge & Neck in Black Open Coil)

* Two 500K Push / Push Pots (One push/push master volume for each pickup. Pickups will be tapped for single coil tones)

* Three Way Pickup Selector Switch

* Dunlop Strap Locks

* Planet Waves Input Jack

* Copper Shielding In All Cavities

* Gold Neck Plate

* CTS Bumblebee Capacitors

* Dunlop Pure Nickel Strings (.10-.46)

But it sounds awesome, can't wait to see it!
 
Sounds like that's a gonna be one helluva axe!

My criticisms:
  • Push-push pots are notoriously short-lived. If you must have switched pots, push/pull will last longer.
  • Copper shielding is a waste of time/money/effort. Used shielded cable. It's easier and more effective.
  • Bumblebee caps are a waste of money. Capacitors don't have a "sound"; they have a capacitance. Pick a value and get a ceramic. I suggest .022µF. They're $.50 if you pay retail.
 
I'd actually amend Cagey one further - an added mini-switch per pickup will let you use standard (near-lifetime) pots, and also easily allow series/parallel/single switching. There's a lot to recommend parallel coils vs. tapped, like higher volume. I like having both options (plus standard HB series wiring), because you'll get three set volumes out of each pickup, which can be useful in the combined pickups setting.
