Well, you know that my stuff is unpredictable! Not sure what to call this musically; people who don't like jazz won't like it because they think it's too jazzy, while people who do like jazz won't like it because it isn't jazzy enough, lol.

I called it The Three Faces of Yves as a pun on The Three Faces of Eve, the 1957 Joanne Woodward film about multiple personality disorder, a condition which has been largely debunked since then, though people certainly do create internal characters that take over in traumatic conditions. Anyway, this song appears to reflect a bit of that, though the only trauma is musical. :-) . I initially wrote and recorded the first third of it (about 2:20 worth) and then for some reason spontaneously did a 3.5 minute improv that was only barely related to it but liked the result so then I had to accompany it. Since the improv was completely free form with lots of pauses and no click track to sync to, this was interesting.

Just used one guitar on this for everything - a two color sunburst Warmoth Strat with the biggest roasted maple neck and frets I could get, a Gotoh 510 and a roller nut; pickups are Keystones on the neck and middle and a Dragonfire Screamer on the bridge. I think the Screamer compares very well with the Duncan JB and the Dimarzio Super Distortion, both of which I have in other Strats. I did not use a high gain amp here though, but I used the same amp and settings for everything, just messed with guitar vol and tone at times (and pickup changes, of course).
