should be good!! he is hilarious btw.. seems like a very cool guy!

I'm totally not into shredding but I checked out a couple of videos of him on youtube recently and he surely does seem like a cool guy with a great sense of humour.

I sure hope it sounds good. I love "Get Out Of My Yard" but I found "Silence Followed By A Deafening Roar" to be hard to listen to because the drums were so digitized-sounding it's painful. I know he used a real drummer, but they must have Pro Tooled it to death because the cymbals sound like static, not vibrating sheets of bronze. I think he records a lot of stuff by e-mailing files back and forth because of cost and time considerations, and I'm finding it harder and harder to listen to music that's not made by a real band playing together at the same time. I'll probably buy it, but "Silence Followed..." just ended up in the backpile somewhere.  :sad1: The guitar playing was great.

yeah paul is a shredder you can get into, mostly because he doesnt take himself seriously, hes not all "look at how great i am" like yngwie or however you spell that. im not into satriani but i dont mind his stuff once in a while, he seems pretty down to earth despite his spaceman reputation. i think these kinds of thing come through in the music, for me though shred is more backround music i just dont get into it, but there is a few things i like by eric johnson. anyway ill probably check out this album just to see what its all about.

Just look at my avatar and you'll see how much I'm excited for this :icon_thumright:

For all you Gilbert fans, check out the Hendrix Tribute album he did recorded live at Frankfurt's Jazz Festival in 1991.

Yesss it's great stuff.

Great player, nice guy, tons of talent, but pretty lame catalog of music. Really wish he had just joined a decent heavy rock outfit and gone that route

Anyone remember the old VHS instructional vids he did back in the day? There were backgrounds of random people surfing and whatnot lol

I like Racer X & imo, their downfall was their subpar singer. Jeff Martin is better suite dfor drumming than singing.

Pauls's solo vocal material is not very good. He has a horrible voice & his guitar style is just not suited for the powe pop type songs he writes. He's a shredder & a damn good one at that.

He's finally realized that he needs to cater to his core guitar fans & ditched the pop vocals.

I agree with you there. I enjoy Get alot more then Slience. There is alot more feeling into Get and probably b/c it was his first major instrumental album he worked really hard to make it sound good.

I really freakin' hate Paul, his music is awesome, but trying to play it is a real bitch! I spent 6 months trying to play 'Technical Difficulties' to speed, I ended up changing my part to something easy.

Some people should just stick to their core competencies and let others handle the peripheral and support work. I remember the first time I heard Satriani singing on the "Flying in a Blue Dream" disk, I thought "Oh, no. No, no, no. Don't go there, man!"

Joe Satriani... Eric Johnson... Sonny Landreth...

But I kind of like PG's voice.

I like PG's voice but not on every song... some are maybe just too pop for me. But don't forget, Paul is a pop god in Japan, it's reminiscent of his Mr Big days where he gained most of his money by writing "powerbalads".

It seems like he has returned to his 70's rock guitar roots since a couple album though, which I won't complain about :hello2:.

I think sometimes we here in the States forget that there are other markets out there with different tastes and demands. At least, I do. But, a professional knows better than to try and jam the wrong things down the throats of potential fans.
