New (mini) Amp Day!

Last night I decided to go by my music store and play the Orange Micro I had seen there a few days before. I've gotta say, I was pretty impressed! Sounded really nice in store with the Vintage (brand) LP I was using. Got it home and my Tele sounded great too! Pedals sound decent through it as well.

My only real complaints? There isn't a bass knob. This is the case on the Tiny Terror as well, but they both have a "Tone" knob. On the Tiny Terror this knob work pretty well. On the Micro it seems like its either too thin with no real bass, OR it's too bassy and sounds muffled. There's a happy medium in there somewhere, but not a lot. Also, the gain is pretty minimal. You don't buy this amp hoping to get high gain, but a mild crunch would be nice. Still, it not bad.

I'll upload a picture when I get home. I put one on my Flickr account but can't for the life of me figure out how to copy the picture location on my iPhone...

I've had mine for a month now and love it, they're amazing little amps (not just for the money either), I've tried mine through a bunch of my different cabs and it sounds great through all of em, it sounds the best (to my ears) through my epiphone 1x12 (with Celestion Relic 30) and through the Marshall 1960 4x12.

I have NOT had the same problem as yours (wishing there was a bass knob), I turn the tone knob to about 9-10 o'clock, so it's more fat & warm, and the gain up to about 2-3 o'clock, then boost with different OD pedals (gain on the pedals at zero) and it's magic. I play a lot of different stuff, lately I've been going back and forth from playing Joe Bonamassa blues stuff on the Micro, to lots and lots of Mastodon riffs haha, as well as a lot of classic rock. I Even downtuned my PRS SE singlecut down to Drop B, and it sounded HUGE through the 1x12 epi cab haha! it was ridiculous!

I had the original Tiny Terror a while ago and ended up trading it away, (it was a fantastic amp as well) but I don't miss it, I actually like the Micro a lot more!

My Micro has tons of gain, I'm not even using super hot pickups either. (SD '59, and GFS mini-hums)

I'll play around with it some more tonight. I got it to where I was happy with it then just played haha but I'll try the settings you're using. I bought the 1x8" orange cabinet that it's (sort of) paired with. Sounds pretty good! And it's a loud little amp too

ahhhhhhh. That's yer "problem"  :icon_thumright: (not a problem at all, the little ppc1x8 isnt bad at all)

but put the micro through a bigger cab, even a decent 1x12 and I guarantee you'll be blown away!

Seriously, my jaw DROPPED when I ran the Micro through the Marshall 4x12, I was able to dial in some huge metal tones, so much so that it actually compared to my Mesa Stiletto Deuce head (which made me feel sheepish because the Stiletto cost a crap-load more than the Micro Terror haha!)

Thanks! I'll definitely look into a new cab in the future. The one I bought was the most cost effective, but you get what you pay for I suppose! I'd love a nice 2x12 but they can be so damn expensive! I tried it through a Krank 1x12 in store an it sounded pretty decent. Oh well, I'm still pretty happy with my purchase! It's a really cool little rig

I am a big fan of the little tiny amps these days.  I picked up a Vox AC4TV 1x10 combo last summer and then picked up the 1x12 cab they sell as a matched pair with the AC4 head, and it really opened up the sound a lot. Congrats on your new toy.
