Long time lurker.

I recently fell into a fantastic deal on an old ibanez but all I want is the neck.  Do you think I would run into trouble pairing this up with a soloist body from warmoth?    Thanks.

No Warmoth Body will pair up with any stock Ibanez neck that I've seen so far.

Fender's spec is pretty much the standard for replacement parts companies like Warmoth & Stew Mac, and Ibanez never followed that spec.

If you found an Ibanez neck on Ebay or other, your best choice is to find out what model it was paired up with to begin with, and then search for the missing body on Ebay or other.

I've literally seen Ibanez use upwards of 8-to-10 different neck pocket specs for differing models, which is to say, not even pairing Ibanez Model #A neck will necessarily fit Ibanez Model #B body.

Their specs are model specific.

Not entirely true ...

You are right in that the 24 fret RG necks will never work with anything other than an Ibanez body.  However, I am in the process of re-finishing an '85 Ibanez Roadstar (RS440).  I bought a Warmoth neck from the Screamin' Deals section, with the idea being "it it doesn't work, I'll just buy a Warmoth body".  As it turns out, the neck fits very nicely ... there's about 1 mm of play on either side of the neck pocket, but the bolt holes line up perfectly.  These particular necks had the same "overhang" around the 22nd fret, and the scale lengths are identical.
I'm going to be posting a few pics of my "Warbanez" (Ibamoth?) once I've finished painting it ... but so far everything is working quite nicely.

A millimeter on each side is WAY too much...

To each his own ...

I got the guitar for free from a buddy of mine.  In fact, it managed to get about $150 for the trem (that AWFUL Pro Rock'R contraption), and another $25 for the neck.
I had a Roadstar back in my teens, and thought it would be a fun project.
Besides, I never had any intentions on making this guitar perfect.  It was always meant to be another toy in my (unfortunately small) collection.

Actually, I've got a plan.
I'm gonna mask off the bottom and front of the neck pocket.  It shouldn't be to hard to get close to 1mm of finish on each side.  In fact, I think the fact the old neck had finish on it made up close to that 1 mm difference.
Regardless, I'm not going to lose any sleep over a tiny gap that nobody's gonna see anyway.
Finishing is hopefully going to start this weekend.  This Roadstar is truely going to be one-of-a-kind once it's finished!

The neck is actually from an old RG that was completely trashed,  I bought the guitar very cheap as it was already taken apart.  The body is in awful shape but the neck feels great.    I just wish I could get a spalted maple top!
