New body suggestion

Since you are a Fender licensee, how about doing the first new Fender bass design in years?  I'm talking about the Dimension.  It would be great if you could do it but with your wood and finish options along with all the pickup options.  Of course, there are no after market Dimension pickups, so I'm thinking MusicMan or EMG 35s in both regular bridge and sweet spot positions along with all the usual neck pickup options.

That would be epic! :headbang4:

I didn't know what model you were talking about (being a guitarist) and I figured many more here doesn't know either. So here is the model in question - which I think look awesome. I approve of this idea:

Thumbs-up to this body shape. It's really balanced-looking.

I dunno, Amigarobbo, the Gibson just doesn't look the same. Too... Klingoney, for my tastes.

Hehe! It is a bit extreme. Plus, there's a lotta leverage on that thin upper horn. I would expect early strap hanger failure, at least.

Actually, you're right. It is a bit generic 90s Far Eastern bass init?

The Gibson that is.

Sorry, I appear to have just posted the same picture of the Washburn...   Or did I?

It's pretty obvious Gibson stole that design... if it'd been designed by Gibson it would have looked like this:

Perhaps, after being emboldened by the failure of the motorized tuners, Gibson will attempt to solve their balance problems with a new gyrostabilized guitar. The truss rod spins at 36,000 rpm and holds the neck up.

Just as a point of clarification, Warmoth's Fender license allows the use of four trademarked headstock shapes (S, T, J, and P), under very specific conditions. That is the complete scope of the agreement.

That said, I do think that bass is Fender's coolest new design in years.

What about the Musiclander (Swinger)? That's an outdated Fender design. Are you able to make that because it was only made in 1969? If that's the case, there is the Marauder which was really never made other than a kinda-sorta-wannabe-but-lets-use-the-name in 2011-2014. That's a shape that would make a great addition to your lineup as a bass much like the Dimension but with less lower horn. I'm making a Marauder hybrid guitar for myself but the body shape is still 100% Marauder. This is just a cobble-up of my guitar concept and the pickguard would need a lot of working over but this gives you the idea.

Reading between the lines plus what I know of history... With the exception of G,R,EB, headstock is largely held to be the trademarkable shape/signature. The horse is out of the barn on most of the Fender body shapes - they've been so widely copied for decades. Hence the agreement focuses on the part that is enforced.

When I was a spotty lad of 19 years old, shopping for my first electric guitar, that Performer line was new in stores, along with the Katana.  The Performer looked cool as hell to me, but was way out of my price range.  I ended up with an Ibanez model RS315 in cherry burst, which, in retrospect, was a better choice not just for price, but also for quality at that point in the Fender story.

I also picked up my first amp - a Peavey Backstage Plus - about which the less said, the better.

Bwahaha. Yeah, I borrowed a Backstage Plus from church for a while. Someone had bought it to use as a mini PA rig believe it or not. It had the most awful wasp in a jelly jar MXR Distortion+ style tinny thrash clipping ever designed I think. I still chuckle about using that thing for a PA now and then.

Wern't the Katana and Performers made in Japan, and well made despite Fender American quality issues of the time?  :dontknow:

I've still got my first amp, a Marshall* 12w bass thing.

Lets have a look on the interwebs to see if it's in or out of fashion this week....

It looks like a craft from the original Elite Game

So when we getting the Warmoth version?  :evil4:

I miss that sort of game, before computer games collapsed into a black hole of first person shooters and real time role play.
