Never seen this before

They had some $1,600 Strat necks about a year and a half ago IIRC.

I can't remember whether they were Brazilian Rosewood or solid Ebony, but I think they were Ebony.

I can't imagine spending that much on a neck.... Anyways, is brazilian rosewood ever better than indian? Or is it just the idea of owning a neck that may be illegal soon?

that conversation is opening a whole can of worms
but basically, a lot of people say yes. A lot of people say, no it's just the idea of it being fancier and more expensive.

some brazillian rosewood is extremely beautiful, almost like cocobolo. but as far as tone it is always debateable. there was an interesting video of paul reed smith with a neck blank tapping on it and it did ring very nicely but he didn't compare it to anything else.

i think those $1600 necks were brazillian rosewood, ive seen solid ebony telecaster necks and they weren't all that expensive unless ebony is illegal to import now as well :icon_scratch:

Ok, maybe the Ebony necks were the $700 necks, and the $1600 necks were Brazilian Rosewood.

Why are those showcase necks almost ALWAYS Standard thin Back Contour???
Why not make em fat back,it is way more easy to shave the wood of than to add it back on!!!!!
I would like to see more boat and fat backs in the showcase department !!!

ditto - these skinny neck shapes automatically exclude them for me.

There are boat profiles in the showcase, but almost never the exotics.  Guess I'll just have to order one...

That's not even the best looking one-piece rosewood they've had.  :icon_thumright:

I looked at that neck for my current build and if it were in the $350-$400 range, I would have picked it up, but I couldnt see spending $700 more then the absolutely beautiful neck that I did end up buying.
