Actually the first thing I thought of was not glam rock, but rather his purpleness. The ultimate pimp guitar player.

Congrats, it looks great. We should organize agig together and have two of neon pink oneson the same stage :party07:.
Enjoy!

Yes, noname! I saw your neon pink Strat post. I guess our guitars are.....uh.....cousins? Sisters? Very cool build... I don't have kids, but all of my friends who do, they love "the pink one!!!"

Let's find others with neon finishes and we'll have a jam session. We'll also hand out sunglasses to the audience members  :cool01:

The 3-way switches were originally for series/split/parallel for each individual pickup. However, I got a short in the wiring (two DPDT switches right next to each other, what a b**** to wire!!! Anyone else have a problem with DiMarzio's wires?), so I bypassed them to get me through the show. It was really excessive anyways and there was no way I practically would be able to set up my tone playing live with that setup. I intend to put 2-ways in for simple series/split operation.

And as far as it being Pink....Pink GETS you females...

Sometimes, it's easier to burn the insulation off those super-fine wires than it is to strip them. Get a little disposable butane lighter and just torch the end of the wire, then scrape off the burnt/melted plastic. Might help to practice that routine a bit before you start lighting fires in your control cavity. Some insulation burns more aggressively than others. It also helps if you plan ahead and strip the wire before you need it stripped, when it's easier to get to. Then, twist up the frayed ends and wick some solder onto them so you have something tangible to work with besides frog hairs.

It doesn't count if they're fat.  :toothy12: :laughing11: :laughing7:

Hehe! You won't get any argument from me, there. But, there's also no accounting for taste. I had a cousin get married some years back who I hadn't seen in some years, and had no idea who he was marrying. Never met her until that day, and it was like "YIKES!" Chick had to be 350lbs if she was an ounce, and as ugly as 10 miles of dirt road. Maybe she was rich? I don't know. Paid my respects, and boogied as soon as it was fashionable.

But, I don't think guitar color has anything to do with being a chick magnet. It's the fact that you're up on stage, laying it all out. It's an emotional thing. Doesn't matter what you're doing or what you're playing at all. Although, I will say the singer and lead guitar player seem to get the most play.

Thanks for the advice, I never thought about burning it off! Believe me, I took my time with this one: I measured wire lengths and stripped everything. I usually pre-solder everything on the pickgaurd before I load it into the body and this still looked like a mess between the two DPDT switches when I was done.

And yes....color can be a gimmick, but ultimately nobody cares at all what type of guitar you're playing, just that you are DOING it and you have the balls to do it in front of everyone....

Although, I do run into people who care about my guitars at gigs: they're usually alone, wearing baggy pants, black t-shirts, bad hair cut, heavy breathing....they want to know if I used vintage push-back cloth wire and if I did not, why? Pretty much me in high school. They're always between me and trying to order a beer/talk to someone else....

Hehe! Yeah, it's a neat trick. Learned it back 100 years ago before the IBM PC ever came out. Used to hand-wire computers and a lot of stuff had to be breadboarded because there really wasn't any production stuff you could buy to do some things. So, you dealt with large bundles of super-fine wire and had to re-route circuit traces on home-etched pc boards, etc. Necessity being the mother of invention, you found innovative ways of making things work.
