i have an old Teisco guitar I'm refinishing. it has a really nice top that i would like to dye blue but neither me or my dad has ever dyed wood before and were wondering what to do  :icon_scratch:

advise?

you dye it

like start with stripping the finish off
then sand it to 220 grit
get a test board
and using a old t shirt wipe the stain on and then off
let dry, see how good of a job you did and then
if it is good, do the body, once you let it dry for 2 days start the finish process, takes a few weeks to do it right but it is top notch when done

Try going here &  reading everything you can.

Then do the same here,

You should do fine.

Just out of curiosity, have you checked to make sure this old Teisco isn't worth something? Some people really go ga-ga over those funky 60s Japanese guitars. Just some food for thought before you take it apart and break out the dye. Obviously, if it's your guitar and you want to keep it and dye it blue, then go nuts.  :icon_thumright:

Yes this is the one tht I dug otta my friendks garage But The guitar was so beat up that it wasnt even playable and I am looking for a jointer for the walnut project pabloman its taking a long time to find a decent used one for a good price  :( but at least I have this to keep me busy
