I found these on Amazon, but finding M8 x 1.75 is turning out to be a challenge.

If you are searching for 1.75, that would indeed be a problem. 1.25 is the standard M8 thread spacing. 1.75 is standard for M12.

Edit: Never mind. I have never seen self tapping screws such as the ones linked to by the Spudster. They do not give a "pitch" description. Interesting.

Ah, okay. I would think that if the diameter is listed in mm that the length would also be. So, M8 x 45mm? Anyway, 30 years as a machinist got the best of me!
