Neck profile suggestions...Standard Thin vs Boatneck

I have a '59 round back Warmoth neck, and I'm trying to buy another neck from the showcase. Currently the only options I have for neck profiles with all the other features I need are either Standard Thin or Boatneck. Can anybody help me decide which way I'd be better off going?

Thank you!

What other options are you hung up on?  If you really need all those options, and you're deciding on a second-best option for neck profile, my feeling is you should just have the neck you want built up from scratch.  Functionality-wise, the neck profile probably matters more than virtually any other cosmetic option you might care to buy.

I whole heartedly agree with that.  The neck profile is THE single most important factor for me!  Can't even think of how many beautiful necks I have passed up because it was not the 59 round back profile.  Go ahead and get the custom neck you REALLY want...

Neck profile is up their with pickup choices when it comes to really personalizing a guitar.

I've been a wizard guy for years, but am leaning heavily into the 59, and can certainly find value in a fatback after playing a Ritchie Kotzen Tele the other day.

I'm not aware of any neck styles that restrict the available profiles, so you could just resign yourself to waiting and order exactly what you want built. As long as there's no finish on it, it doesn't take long. Even if you do want (or have to have) a finish, perhaps it would be worth it to wait rather than compromise.

Just piling on here.  There is a HUGE difference in feel between standard thin and boatneck.  The profile is the most important thing for the neck.  Get the one that fits your hand first, then worry about every other parameter after that.

The only one that I'm aware of is, no 12 string with wizard back contour.  This has to do with the amount of tension pulled by a 12 string, and the minimal amount of wood in the wizard profile to support it.
That may have changed in the 7+ years that I've been gone from there though.

This might be heresy, but I ended up ordering a neck from Musikraft. Their range of available neck profiles was much larger and the cost ended up cheaper for the same specs. I have no problem with Warmoth, just gonna try something different. Thanks for all the comments guys!!!

If it helps at this point find a brick and mortar store near you that sells Nash guitars and ask if they have anything with one of his boatnecks. He does two necks, a medium C and a boatneck. Then you can go hands on and see what you think. And yes, Musikraft and USACG both offer some greater flexibility on neck profile but even as a USACG owner myself I have found great success on the Warmoth Showcase and nobody else was going to do an all Bubinga neck for me. As long as you are happy with the resulting guitar is all that matters in the end.
