Neck issue, non warmoth

I have a thread for my Les Paul from scratch build, but I figured I should keep this part seperate.  On one of the 3 guitars I had an issue with the neck construction.  I had to re-shape the neck so although it is 1 - 11/16 at the nut, the string spread at the bridge will be an 1/8" under 2".  There are no bridges specifically that I know of that go under 2".  What I plan on doing is using a TOM bridge and notching it myself to bring the strings in.  My question is will the close string spread make the guitar unplayable?  I have small hands so it may not be a big deal.  The guitar is a neck through like the other 2 so I would have to scrap it and start over if it can't be saved.  Any ideas?

You're the only one who can answer that. That's a whole 1/4" off what you usually see there. Many guys would balk at being 1/16" off. At 1 7/8 at the bridge, it would be unplayable for me. Decidedly so. But, that's just me.

What about tapering the sides of the fret board. Maybe flaring them out would be a better description. Maybe you could plane down the sides of the neck and add some runners to widen it back up and contour them to match the back. :dontknow:
