Neck for Black Korina - looks based choice

Is there a fingerboard wood that seems to 'go' well visually with a clear (satin) finished Black Korina body?  Originally I was all about the Ziricote, but now I'm thinking that it may be better to have a more mellow figured neck with such a figured body wood so the patterns aren't fighting each other.  I don't have a tonal preference, going to decide only on looks.

My current short list is either Canary or Bubinga, but I'm definately open to suggestions (except ebony - not a fan).  Shaft wood would be flame maple.

Thanks all!

You might want to consider Aframosia. The one I have here is only barely distinguishable from the Canary, but the wood seems to be a bit denser, with tighter grain. Plus the coloring, while also similar, might be a better match to Black Korina. In fact, you might want to consider getting the whole neck made of it, rather than the curly Maple neck meat. The stuff polishes up really nice, and feels great. Saves you $100 on a finish, too.

Edit: I just looked, and apparently I have an oddball. They rarely use it for fretboards, and there are none in the Showcase at the moment. Maybe if you called them they'd make it available for you.

Canary with ziricote or wenge with ziricote. Ziricote is the shiznit, it's like ebony only more appealing.. I have several... :laughing7:

(so you can get an idea)
I have a BK body in Trans Yellow with a Ziricote fretboard. And Bocote neck wood.

And YES .... I thought at 1st it might be to busy looking. But man does it sound great  :guitarplayer2:

I wound up e-mailing about the Palissinder Rosewood, and got a link back to all the available Unique Choice fingerboards...

and found myself staring at an amazing Ipe board, which I was able to grab during my order.  I'm very excited to see how it looks with the BK & Azurite Malachite dots.  A lot will depend on the piec of BK that they pick out for me - I wasn't able to choose one of those myself, hoping for the best.

I saved a pic of the FB.  I'll see if I can post it tonight when I get home.

You got me thinking about the Ipe 'boards the last time you mentioned it, and they still have some nice pieces left. Not knowing much about it, I asked Uncle Google to fill me in, and as educational (and exciting) as all that was I couldn't see anything that looked like what Warmoth has left in stock. That's some unusual stuff.

My only concern is the color, which seems to lean toward an olive shade. It would look great on a natural-finished Poplar body, or anything else painted green or yellow. But, I want to finalize a blue body, which would clash badly.

That's ok. Gives me an excuse to build something else <grin>

It's wierd, the one I got is MUCh lighter in color than the two that are left in the UC (last I checked).  The one I got also has really cool figuring in it that makes it look like it is spattered with 3D ridges/dunes.  The other up there don't seem to have any figuration (is that a word?).  Must be some variability in the Ipe boards.

I'll PM the pic to you so you can see it.

I take it back - I don't know why I thought I could attached a pic to a PM but not a post.  Silly me.

You could post it to the forum, or I have an email link on my posts if the PM link won't let you play the way you want. It's the little envelope icon.

I broke down and created a Flickr account.  Here's the Ipe board I scored:

Pretty cool, huh?

Very nice. I'm envious. I wanna use some, but I don't know on what. May have to start another project.
