Neat trick for overcut nut

Last night I discovered that my new neck's G string slot is a bit too deep, causing buzzing on the 1st fret.  I have a 3 hour show tonight that is out of town, so I have no time to see a tech to address this. I came up with a little solution that may prevent me from seeing the guitar doctor altogether.  I don't know if this is advisable for the EAD strings, btw.

If you cut a snippet of your high E string, it will fit into the G slot.  It gave my string the perfect amount of height to clear the 1st fret and the tone is no different than it was before.  Works in a pinch!

Note: as you tune to pitch, the snippet will slide towards the tuners, so you may have to push it backwards before the string is up to pitch.

Quick fix : You need
1. Super glue
2. Baking powder
3. Nut file
Protect the nut with scotch tape exposing only the G-string slot. Wick in a small drop of superglue into the slot. Wait a few seconds and sprinkle baking powder where the glue has seeped in.  Wait a few hours or overnight for the glue to dry.  Cut the slot to its preferred depth with a nut file.  Good to go.
