This is another faux-metal guitar. The finish was inspired by the Nautilus submarine in the movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

The body is alder. The rivets are plastic, and each are set in and glued about 1/4 inch into the body, so they will not fall off. The finish was all done by hand with a brush. Sealed with multiple coats of lacquer.

Fun project!

Yep, that is one cool guitar. Great concept, nice execution.  The steampunk crowd will love it!

ME TOO!! (Didja get those riveted pieces off the bottom edge of your couch? :icon_jokercolor:)

Thanks guys. I always wanted a metal guitar. Ironically I don't own one, because I've sold them all!

I'm getting ready to do this technique on a Gibson. I just bought one of those Les Paul LPJ models. They have the really thin finish (which is perfect for me) and some cheaper electronics, but otherwise they're the real deal. Anyway, got one on close-out brand new for $400, so it will soon be metallized.

I can already hear the Gibson purists crying...
