My favorite Neo-Nazi band so far this week!

Actually, the lyrics sound freaking nazi... And with the world crisis and the "naturally flowing" hate for the immigrant that it always bring, I'm not really surprised... In Europe the neo-nazi parties are growing again...

Y'know, I loved these guys back in the late 90s-early ought's; but their last two studio albums were just crap...

That video is another example of why Germans and humor just don't mix.

Aww, but I kind of liked that "Two peanuts ver valking down ze strasse..." joke.

I have very serious doubt that Rammstein is neo-nazi. In germany the swastika is banned and it is illegal to put your arm up in the "sieg heil" pose, or to deny the existence of the holocaust. They take that stuff very very seriously, and rightly so.

They are not a Nazi band, and they wouldn't have made it to world fame if they were far right wing extremists.
Although Rammstein likes to provoke with their Teutonic apperances, they are harmless.
As rockskate4x pointed out, the Germans take that really seriously. I am German, too, btw.

And hey, the Germans do have humor:  :icon_biggrin:

The moment that I saw it was a Rammstein video I just knew it was harmless. It's all tongue in cheek.

A lot of people can reliably be tuned-up, and tuned-down, without even realizing it. I figured out quite some time ago that there are genres where I honestly can't tell the difference between the "spoofs" and the real stuff.

Fat lady in Viking helmet bellowing at the top of lungs then falling on her lover's sword = real opera.

Burgeoningly-tubby middle-age men in black leathers and chains, still screaming about Satan = real heavy metal.

Rap? And Lady Gaga, Katy Perry - comedy. I can't quite say they're harmless, in that they take up a lot of room inside people's heads - and it seems to squeeze out a good bit of the capacity they may have had for independent thought. Alice Cooper -> KISS -> Motley Crue -> Marylin Manson, there's always another P.O.P. artist coming along (POP = Piss off Parents).

Seeing them next month. I don't know what they're saying, and don't care. German is a pretty nasty language for metal and as it turns out it works pretty well. And I've seen them try to sing in English; it doesn't work.

They figured they'd give non-German speakers their money's worth by strapping flamethrowers to their faces and putting on crazy show. Solid plan. A couple of those guys are pushing 50, more power to them.
