MUSTANG WITH TORONADO BRIDGE *HELP!*

Hey Folks..

this is my first post so bear with me if I come off as a novice

I'm looking to purchase a Warmoth Mustang body drilled for a toronado bridge.

However, I've really grown to like the Squier Musicmaster bridge a lot more. Similar look, but with barrel saddles and slightly thicker. It has a different alignment of the screw holes, but wonder what i would need to do to get this to fit over the holes drilled for the toronado.

Would i just line up the string through holes and drill new ones for the bridge plate? In the end i'd like to avoid drilling new string through holes. Any assistance or advice is greatly appreciated!

It looks like you're better placed to answer this than most - assuming that the photo is yours and you actually have both bridges on hand.

My first impression is that it's not going to work, or not easily anyway. It appears that, as well as the bridge plate being a fair bit bigger, the string through holes are a lot further back on the Squier so the bridge would have to be moved closer to the neck. If you could still get the intonation to work, the scratchplate would need possibly fairly major surgery.

All the above may be complete rubbish as I'm only going by the photo and what you've stated, but I'd be surprised if anyone here has those two bridges to hand. Maybe the folks over at OSG are more likely to have experience of them.

Just eyeballing it I'm pretty sure that's a solid no. As Pete says, you'd definitely need to move the bridge to line up with the holes, do pickguard hacking, etc.

If you're really wanting to use that bridge, your best bet is to get a Mustang body with no bridge rout, then drill it yourself.  Warmoth will also drill the bridge for you for $45 and send the bridge to them.
