Thank you Slingbass, tubby.twins, baskruit, Schlieren, whitebison66, "Greg, "Richard, and "John" - no user names given, plus anyone I missed ( I checked thrice ) and everyone else for all of your support!

Cool!

Are you missing a nut though?

It has a black TUSQ pre-slotted nut on the neck already, or were you referring to something else?

Hehe! Dancin' around, rarin' to go are ya? <grin>

Good to see you're all set. Show's you've given it a lot of thought, planned for eventualities, etc. Steady as she goes, it'll work out just fine. Look forward to seeing it with all its fingers and toes.

What a gas!  Have a blast and give her a ding for me  :laughing3:

Looks tidy and organized (way better than me). That's a good start.

I'm a superVirgo, I can't help organization. I dug through my toolbox and already have the wrenches and screwdrivers to fit every piece on the guitar laid out in the order I'm most likely to need them.

I just put in vacation time for the next four days.  :guitarplayer2: One to build it and set it up, the next two to blow up my sister's Crate amp, and the fourth to rest and get back in the good graces of my hopefully understanding wife for ignoring her for three days.

I wanted cream pickups but they wouldn't fit the Quarter Pound polepieces, so I enlarged the holes.

I decided half-and-half looked awesome, and I haven't seen it before, so, yeah.

Drilling into the rosewood scared the crap out of me, especially with the big huge oh-my-god-its-large industrial drill I scrounged.

But it came out okay, and I fixed my first snag - I used too large a bit on the string retainer, but I had some black bridge mounting screws I ordered with the first body and I cut them down to size with some old needle nose pliers and a probably unsafe method of applying pressure...

Nice progress pics and stories. Love 'em.
I do think you should have gone for the all chrome ultralites.

I meant to. Since I had black ones originally and went running for chrome ones at short notice, it completely slipped my mind that there was even a difference until I already had them and the first two were screwed in. So, I am going to learn to love the satin bits on the back.

Looking good.

I also think that the tuners would look better in all chrome. :dontknow:

Are you planning to put on a detuner later down the road when finances allow?

In person, the satin actually looks pretty nice on the rosewood. On those crappy photos the backs look almost white, when it really is a true satin chrome color. And a detuner isn't on my to-do list. At the moment I don't think I'd have much use for it, and you are one of the only people I've heard consistently speak well of them.

They actually do look nice against the Rosewood, it's just that random mismatched area of satin hardware on an otherwise all-chrome bass that always bugs me.  :dontknow:

I never thought I would use a detuner either, which is why my bass originally just had four regular tuners, but then I decided to drop tune my E string and play around with the DADG tuning for a few days. It took me a little while, but I got hooked on it for the open string D note and the harmonics.
I put a detuner on and have never looked back.

Odd, I've never heard a single complaint about the detuners.
A lot of people on TalkBass have said that they've been putting them on all of their four string basses for the past 20 years.
They can be a bit finicky to tune, initially, but once you get it fine tuned, it works real well as long as the nut slot stays lubricated.

There is nothing sexy about a G string riding up your nut sac!
