Mini Humbuckers on a Jaguar

I have a Warmoth-build Jaguar. Not digging the pickups I put in there at the outset. Thinking about putting in DiMarzio Minibuckers, which I love. Anyway, the question is: given all the metal plates, too much chrome on one guitar?

I've been toying with the idea of a Jaguar with wide range humbuckers for my next Warmoth. I think the finish and pickguard colours will be a major factor. I've been playing with sonic blue / mint or parchment and to my taste that's too much chrome, but with warmer colours and the smaller mini humbuckers I think it could look good.

Google Images has turned up these. This one's got the wrong colour pickguard but the right pickups.

And these are the wrong pickups but the right colours:

If it had white single coils in it before, I actually don't think chrome mini humbuckers will look too different.

Yup, I saw the one with the white pickguard. Didn't see the other one you posted. Thanks! Doesn't look too bad. I think I'll try it.

Or, you could try having a black pickguard on there. That way you'll only have two colors; black and chrome.

Might look really pretty I think.

They'll fit, and they'll look good. Just double-check the string spacing because the two DiMarzio minibuckers are both made for 48mm spacing, and of course many Jaguars have bridges that are much wider than that.

Fender released a black & chrome Jag before, see attached image. It's my favourite Fender Jag by far.

That black and chrome is really striking. What a beauty. I could be tempted by one like that.

I don't think you can have too much chrome on a Jag. I own a Jag (albeit minimal chrome) but if I ever decide to make the switch to humbooglers, they'd be chrome. The Jag is all about "Man, that guitar looks nuts!". It's a wild instrument that makes a statement. I would get a black pickguard for it personally, and some Lollar Mini Humbooglers. That's just me, though. I think it will look fantastic with Mini Boogs either way. If you like that tortoise shell look and wanna go for the mini's, go for it! It's a Jag. They always look good.
