She needs some work. Shielding, a wraparound, new tuners, a new pickguard, maybe a refin and/or a bigsby. Destined to be my beater, to be trashed in the most beautiful ways. :headbang1:

I'll probably lose the distortion bucker and just keep the 1 p-90, maybe get it rewound.

None of this will probably happen for a while without  a good deal on parts, so I'm really just teasing. :toothy12:

Gotta love an SG!
  :guitarplayer2:

I have a wraparound insert that happens to fit that very bridge.
And I believe you may be able to purchase one from the manufacturer.
I put allens Set screws in mine, The stock adjusters are Fugly.
I like it alot.

Thanks!

I picked up a wraparound today. Cheap, set intonation with grub adjust, and it sounds.... A hell of a lot better!?? Louder too. Crazy. It plays better as well, bends are easier, and it's radius is just right.. I wonder what's up..

I got it looked over by a local expert. He says it's a '68 sg junior. It's had 4 too many holes drilled, new tuners, a new humbucker, and it's a bad refin.

This is what it used to be:

My envy borders on jealousy. I should never, ever have sold my SG Jr! (Well, I did have to pay the rent, but...) One day I will have one again!

Until then, enjoy yours. Mine made me very happy for a number of years.

:redflag:  Got a pic of it, without a pickguard on ?
I wanna see what the routing looks like underneath it.

:dontknow:  You seem to like guitars that come with extra holes on them.

You need to worm-hole one of them.  :icon_biggrin:

Thanks Dan! I just gave her a proper setup, she feels great.

I do want to take a handgun to a sunburst jag body..

:toothy12: I just love the fun that comes with these projects.. My Dad sees them as playable guitars, I see them as fun projects.

I'm having trouble finding a big pickguard designed for a P-90 and wraparound bridge. Anyone have one or know where I can get one? I'll take pics for you when I get a new guard on. The routing is actually not bad in this one, as opposed to the chisel'd mess in the jag.

II'm having second thoughts about getting the pup rewound as well. After I soldered a couple loose connections yesterday, she sparkles.. Only the humbucker is still muddy. :dontknow:

That's the way  :icon_thumright: ..... great reply.

That is the BEST way to learn all types of things, using old bodies.
It's something I think 1st timers to a Warmoth project should do.
Buy an old or cheapish guitar, pull it apart, change things, put it back together, then play it  :party07:

Then do it all again .......

Then invest in a Warmoth or two  :headbang:

I always feel a little better when I'm done as well. I see a guitar and say "that's not right." Usually my 80's guitar mod peeves act up - I can't stand to look at floyds, brass is bad, don't get me going on hippie sandwiches.. So I pick the guitars with potential, not the ones I enjoy as is.

Restoration is one of my true loves, I was restoring furniture for quite a while before I started on guitars.

You hate people like me.... my theory is "Stock Is For Suckers"

I completely agree when it come to new guitars, and reversible mods are great - I could replace the schaller in 5 minutes if I wanted to. Honestly though, this type of thing is just wrong:

Somehow it still looks better than a musiclander. The golfball sticker is a bit corny though.
