Lesse, Gretsch, Gibson, howbout a desgn incorporating elements of Rickenbacher, Gibson, EBMM, and Universal Percussion too? Pretty soon one of those companies is gonna stop selling products and turn into a legal firm.

I'm just hoping the announcement includes small offset dots ala Godin. (This was mentioned in a thread a while ago.  Even the anti-inlay Cagey said he liked them. )

Here's an outside idea - what about Gretsch style 'thumbnail' inlays?  I'm currently dreaming of a mooncaster with TV Jones pickups, a bigsby, and those thumbnail inlays...
I've had the same dream, except in my dream it had a hardtail!

I have 2 Mooncaster builds in mind, both of which I would use thumbnails if they were available.
1st - a shortscale mooncaster bass
2nd - a mooncaster 12 string
The rest would get offset dots.  Yes I would even replace perfectly good necks as I could.

I installed some clay dots on an Epiphone dotless Dot Neck the other day. Not particularly tricky, except it was already fretted. First time for that trick. I think they came out ok...

You can see the wood is not as dark as the older surrounding wood since it's been sanded clean, but the frets need work so that'll get done before the 'board gets buffed, at which point it should look like it was born with dots. So, next trick is to do offset dots.

Darn, I was just thinking I'd like some blue inlays, but that blue pearloid looks a fair bit darker than I'm dreaming of (and the turquoise inlay is too light and the malachite is too inconsistent....). Alas, back to the drawing board/waiting room.

Nine years earlier similar inlays had been offered for a limited time. I took advantage of the offer for my LP assembly.

That sure is a nice assembly. :icon_thumright:
Is that 25,5" scale necks on the left and 24,75" on the right?
