Btw. almost forgot: There's a method of applying (pva) wood glue on both the veneer and the surface you wanna attach it to, let it dry and then melt it on using a flat iron.
It's the method I'd prefer on a small surface like a tiltback headstock.
I did that on a speaker rebuild I did and it works great. I just figured for something this small that you can clamp all the way around it would be easier to clamp.
