Old busted line6 amp combo + 1960's 15" alnico organ speaker + my engineering skills = fully awesome and very sweet sounding 1x15 speaker cab (on the bottom). Now the superchamp sounds 10x better through it...

I was never really impressed with the superchamp xd's 1x10 speaker...it always sounded stiff and shrill. So I had access to an old 1x12 line6 combo amp. I took it apart his morning, added a new baffle and grill cloth. I also added some interior bracing to help strengthen the box.

I also had access to an old Rola 1x15 alnico speaker from the 60's. I pulled it out of an old organ a few months ago, but never had a chance to do something with it. The best part? This cab cost me $0. It helps to work at an old church...lots of stuff laying around.

I've never played through a 1x15 before, but I like it. I've got practice today, so I will get to mic the cab up and crank it. So far, the superchamp sounds alot better and sweeter. And louder. Alnico for the win  :icon_thumright:

I love my SCXD, but I ditched the stock speaker almost immediately for an Eminence Rajin' Cajun.  It's a real screamer now.

I've also played it through an Avatar 212 (Celestion V30/G12H30), and the thunderous low end those 12's brought out was glorious.  I wish I still had that cab...

I've heard of people switching the speaker for the Rajin Cajun...good swap for the SCXD.

I haven't tried it yet through a 2x12...I'll have a chance this weekend. One of the worst set of words in english..."I wish..." Don't know how many times i've said that...  :rock-on:
