Well, this guy's gotta get some prize for resourcefulness, at least.

I like the part about slicing off the headstock, flipping it around to make a new headstock:

It kinda seems like he's taking a $99 plywood guitar and making a $199 plywood mandolin... I wish Warmoth would clone the Fender four-string mando, those were cool - might even sell some. This?:

That's actually pretty cool, but that double neck reminds me of a discordant twin.  :laughing3:

My father in law is a big bluegrass player. and most of those guys are such purists they'll never play an electric mandolin.

He wants one though, except for one problem.  One of his instructors at his band camp said that he played with one, a little telecaster type thing just like the one above. and all the bluegrass people kept asking him if it was a childs guitar, which drove him nuts so he didn't play it anymore.  He enjoyed it because it actually sounded really great.

So i figured what I really need is to build him a solid body electric mandolin that looks just like an F-Hole Mandolin.  Could be cool.

U Shrinivas is the guy that toasts my biscuit. Here he is with "Remember Shakti" (geetar player's OK, too) but you can find some more:

(I crave that scalloped 345 with the mini-humbuckers, as well as the six-string mando....)

(IMN-S-HO, McLaughlin's best album since the late 70's original Shakti is this lineup live on the CD "The Believer". McLaughlin & Shrivinas, acting respectfully due to their cosmic consciousness, try to
RIP EACH OTHER'S HEADS OFF.... :toothy12: "The Believer" foregoes the Hindoo vocals....)
